As do I, on a Lighted 20ft flag pole. Basic Rules: No.1 - No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America. No.2 - The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. No.3 - The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. By "half-staff" is meant lowering the flag to one-half the distance between the top and bottom of the staff. No. 4 - When it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. The local VFW Chapter, local Elks Lodge, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops can provide this service. Consider providing a small donation to them for their assistance.
