I recently found some pre-ban armor piercing 5.7x28mm SS190 ammo for sale on line. This ammo has been banned for civilian purchase, and can only be obtained by a law enforcement agency. Would it be legal for me to own this ammo if I decided to purchase it?

IF YOU WANT IT , GET IT WHILE YOU CAN , LIFE WONT WAIT ON YOU . WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SHOOT WITH IT.

I"m guessing unless you have the proper papers...you won't be able to legally own it. Even if it is "pre-ban."

Major, I might be wrong, however I would be surprised if the dealer will ship it without proper Law Enforcement purchase order and a copy of ATF certification of permit (ATF F. 5300.28) to obtain regulated ammunition.

Best thing to do is call the ammo dealer and ask them what the requirents are, just like Chaindriven said, If it is illegal for civilians to purchase it, the dealer will not sell it to you unless you meet the requirement. I wish I could get my hands on that kind of ammo, why? Just to have it because you never know when it might come handy to use...

Then I would get online and call the Local Police Dept. or the State Dept. of Justice and find out what the laws are for this type of ammo in FL. Then you will be 100% sure and you will be good to go.... I always send emails to the CA Dept. of justice when I have a question of the legality of firearms and I keep those emails just in case I have to deal with the law.
