I think I wpuld choose the ak only because of round cap ( not a big fan of the AK last two gave me problems )

Myself, I'd grab the shorty. Couple of reasons... ammo is plentiful and more concealable. Capacity is an issue, although two rounds 00 buck produces 16 pellets down range. And there's still one shell with 8 more, for the idiot that didn't get the message with the first two. Besides, have an AK with folding stock that's compact as a AK pistol but more versatile.

what kind of distance/down range is a shot gun good for ?? I figure the AK pistol would have a better long range capability than a shorty shot gun ? plus ammo is some what cheap and aviable too

A 12 ga with 0 Buck has an effective range 100 yards.
