I have been hearing that the 1911 is a out dated firearm compared to the glock/polymer style and that glocks are 100% relieable . what do you guy's think ?

Well, if a 1911 style pistol fits your hand and your able to produce good groups at distance, who's to say that style firearm is outdated? It all depends who your talking to and how old they are and their experience with both pistols. I happen to enjoy my Glocks as much as my 1911s, but I'm an old fart and find each style favorable during different activities.

I have owned a glock 22 C and got rid of it cause of bad ammo that was shot threw the gun .and I still own my 1911's . I have been hearing this from some tactical gun guy on the web and he claims that 1911's can't finnish his traing course

Interesting, 1911's can’t finish his course... tactical or combat mag change skills lacking? Reliability, durability or accuracy can't be the issue. I guess without additional information regarding this particular training course and the level of standard complexities, it's difficult to answer why 1911 style pistols would have an issue completing the entire course. I'd be interested in shooting the course with either, (depending on course type) my .38 super Colt Combat Commander or Kimber .45 Gold Match Target, I bet this guy a donut we complete it. If you have a mind to, invite our tactical gun guy on RnG Board to explain this claim. Perhaps I'm missing something.
By the way, great post Major General.

James Yeager has served the Law Enforcement Community and served our Country proudly, He deserves our gratitude and respect. Yeager is a competent tactical training instructor, he sells response gear an industry with prominent manufacturers that are willing to sponsor him to tout their products. It would not surprise me in the least Yeager is bias against the older 1911 style pistols. I carry a variety of sidearms, to be honest I rarely wear a 1911 and opted for a more concealable polymer frame ninety percent of the time. It just depends... For me to flatly state that polymers are better would not do the RnG forum any good. I'll contend all types of firearms have a place in the realm of the shooting world.

I know that there's different firearms for different job's but to come out right and say all 1911's suck is a little over the top in my opion . yes some of the compact 1911's are not as reliable as some of the poylmer compact's . I personly own 1911's and polymer and find that they both are well made gun's . I wonder if he ( james Yeager ) is being sponsord by glock ??

I totally agree, without specifically mentioning make and model, there are 1911 style compacts that should not be competing with the contemporary service polymers and definitely would have a real tough time finishing a combat handgun course.

I do belive ( but not 100% sure )that he was comparing the glocks sub to the sub compact kimber and colts

Interesting, I guess my choice would be my GLOCK #19 over my COLT COMMANDER if I was to shoot a tactical combat course today. However, I still enjoy carrying the COMMANDER model, just something about the feel of that pistol.
