SFC, I'm glad you had an opportunity to attend a show and pet a few pistols. That's great. I got one coming up in a few weeks that I have to get ready for. Anyway, I have a Ruger P90 45ACP. A great gun for a service model. It has never failed to fire. I can't recall if it has even jammed. A rugged built 45. The fact that it has remained in my collection should say something. The Ruger P89 is very similar and used in good condition should run for around $350. In these parts. The sights provide good target acquisition and the grip feels good to me. 9mm is very inexpensive to shoot. I don't think you will be disappointed. However, there are a lot of 9mm to choose from. I don't want to sway you away from looking around to locate the one that will fit your hand the best. For the money, Ruger is tough to beat. I feel they are reliable and a workhorse. Regarding accuracy, remember that I come from a competition background. I'll say this, good enough for a service grade pistol. Your not going to win bullseye competitions with it. Just my opinion. Opinions are like @$$ holes... everyone got one. Other good 9s are the Beretta 92, Springfield XD9, the Springfield is going to run you a little more, but it has more features not found on a lot of pistols.

i held the springfield xd9, but i just really like the ruger pistols because they are a little on the big side. the biggest problem i had was that my hands are kind of big, so my pikey would hang past the clip or the grip wasnt right. and plus down here i saw a couple 300. what kind of features does te springfield have that alot of pistols dont have???

Vx....Have you seen the Wilson Combat ADP in 9mm? That's definitely the next gun I'm going to purchase. I suggest you find one and check the fit before you make a decision. It's very concealable if that is something you are interested in, and the grips fit my hand like a glove. I saw a used one at a local shop for $450, but I think they were a little high. They go for $550 list price new. Even if you aren't looking for concealed now, you may want to factor that into your decision. When I finally got my concealed permit, I didn't have a gun that was easily concealable. I was forced to buy a new weapon for concealment. Really had to have my arm twisted you know....Anyway, happy shopping.

I have a P89, Beuatiful Design! They look great, but mine isn't worth much any more. Shakes worse than a rattle snake, but still looks great. NIB in about 1990, fired alot, but not babied; still looks great!%?

Congratulations on your latest acquisition. I like the adjustable rear sight.

Had'er for quite a few years now, actually. Back then, I had those rear sights put on for alittle over a hundred. Don't even want to think about what it would cost these days.
